✨Happy hip dysplasia awareness month! ✨ ✨Hip dysplasia is a congenital condition that occurs when the hips don’t form correctly in the womb. The most common causes can be from breech positioning in the womb and it is more common in first born babies and girls. If left untreated it can lead to painful arthritis very early in life. According to the International Hip Dysplasia Institute hip dysplasia is a common cause of arthritis and early hip replacements before 50 years old.✨ ✨Our little guy was diagnosed super early (six weeks!) with severe hip dysplasia. Due to the severity he didn’t respond to the typical noninvasive treatment that helps 95% of babies. We went through surgery to put his hips in the right place and he was in a cast for several month to hold them in place, then a brace.✨ ✨We got good news last week, his surgeon is happy with how his hips look! We are so grateful for all of his providers for catching his hip dysplasia so early. Although he did have to have surgery it was much less invasive than it would have been if he had been older when it was detected. Hip hip hooray!🎉✨ #hippainawareness #hipdysplasia #hiphealth #strengthandmobility #hippainrelief https://hipdysplasia.org https://scottishriteforchildren.org/care-and-treatment/hip-disorders
